Community-Based Support Services
Therapeutic Mentoring, Sober Coaching, & Parent Coaching Services
Services are currently offered in Boulder, CO and surrounding areas. We work with students who attend CU-Boulder, Front Range Community College and Naropa University. We also offer support in Central and Northwest Denver, which includes Metro State University and University of Colorado, Denver Campus.
Therapeutic Mentors, Sober Coaches, and Parent Coaches collaboratively work with young people and families in their community and home. Our mentors and coaches are primarily Certified Addiction Counselors and Master-level trained clinicians. Their objectives are to understand what is causing the young person's problem behavior, and to teach coping and life skills that will promote stabilization of mood, behavior, and achievement of goals.
Mentors and coaches are available 24 hours per day for crisis support and guidance.
Therapeutic Mentors for Teens & Young Adults are often utilized to:
-
· Provide support to middle school, high school, and university students who are at risk of
failing due to substance abuse, emotional and behavioral issues.
· Support the student who is returning to campus after academic or disciplinary probation.
· Stabilize a young person's behavior that is out-of-control.
· Support the teen and young adult who is transitioning back into the home, community,
and school from an out-of-home placement.
Sober Coaching Service
Our sober coaches are a unique support because they are also in recovery themselves from drugs and/or alcohol. They have received education and training pertinent to their role as a recovery guide, coach and support. They often support those who are coming out of a treatment program, clients who have recently re-located to a new town due to attending college or are new in recovery.
With the support of a mentor or sober coach, your teen or young adult child will:
-
· Identify what is important to them and define
their goals
· Improve organizational & problem-
solving skills
· Receive supervision and support to
achieve educational goals
· Learn important life skills, such as
money and time management
· Establish healthy coping skills
· Maintain or obtain sobriety from drugs
and alcohol
· Receive support to build and/or
maintain recovery program
· Improve peer and family relationship
· Successfully transition into the university community and/or workplace
Parent Coaching Service
Parent Coaches are a valuable resource to the family for multiple reasons. Here are a few critical reasons to enlist the service of a Coach:-
· They teach parents to develop effective communication skills, set clear boundaries and maintain
consistent rules and structure in the home.
· Provide emotional support and on-going education to parents who have teens or young adults
struggling with emotional, educational, and addiction issues.
· Prepare parents and provide on-going support and guidance while their child is making the
transition from out-of-home placement back into their homes or the community.
Parent Coaching is a collaborative partnership which provides support, education, and encouragement. Our parent coaches understand how challenging and exhausting it can be to parent a teenager or young adult child. Your coach will help you to evaluate what is working within your family and guide you to discover your strengths and develop new solutions.
We individualize the mentoring and coaching services based on the needs you have as parents and the young person's needs.
Our Parent Coaching services are available to you in person or by teleconferencing. Therapeutic mentoring services are only available in person. We provide supplemental email communications and phone calls in between sessions for parents, teens and young adults.
